Stabilized July Resale Market Showing Positive Price Gains

Members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board (OREB) sold 1,263 residential properties in July through the Board’s Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) System, compared with 1,102 in July 2022, an increase of 15%. July’s sales included 979 in the freehold-property class, up 18% from a year ago, and 284 in the condominium-property category, a 6% increase from July 2022. The five-year average for total unit sales in July is 1,621.

March Resales: Signs of Spring Surge Sprouting

Members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board (OREB) sold 1,194 residential properties in March through the Board’s Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) System, compared with 2,003 in March 2022, a decrease of 40%. March’s sales included 893 in the freehold-property class, down 40% from a year ago, and 301 in the condominium-property category, a decrease of 42% from March 2022. March sales transactions increased 40% over February. The five-year average for total unit sales in March is 1,698.

Ottawa REALTORS® Give $113,377 to 18 Shelter-Related Charities

Members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board (OREB) raised over $113,000 for the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation (ORCF) in 2022 and provided grants to 18 shelter-related charities in Ottawa and the surrounding areas.

A Message from Penny Torontow, President, Ottawa Real Estate Board

People place a significant amount of trust in REALTORS® during the homebuying process. It’s the largest purchase a person will make and an essential need: a home. I, along with all my colleagues at the Ottawa Real Estate Board (OREB), am angered and disheartened by the behaviour portrayed on CBC Marketplace of real estate agents engaging in mortgage fraud. Without question, this behaviour is unacceptable.

April Residential Resales in a Flux

Members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board sold 1,889 residential properties in April through the Board’s Multiple Listing Service® System, compared with 2,394 in April 2021, a decrease of 21 per cent. April’s sales included 1,419 in the residential-property class, down 23 per cent from a year ago, and 470 in the condominium-property category, a decrease of 13 per cent from April 2021. The five-year average for total unit sales in April is 1,849.

No Signs of Slowdown in Ottawa Resale Market

Members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board sold 1,611 residential properties in November through the Board’s Multiple Listing Service® System, compared with 1,284 in November 2019, a year over year increase of 26 per cent. November’s sales included 1,209 in the residential-property class, up 27 per cent from a year ago, and 402 in the condominium-property category, an increase of 23 per cent from November 2019. The five-year average for November unit sales is 1,257.

February’s Resale Market Back in Overdrive

Members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board sold 1,141 residential properties in February through the Board’s Multiple Listing Service® System, compared with 1,002 in February 2019, an increase of 13.9 per cent. February’s sales included 835 in the residential-property class, up 10.9 per cent from a year ago, and 306 in the condominium-property category, an increase of 22.9 per cent from February 2019. The five-year average for February unit sales is 1,006.

Ottawa Real Estate Board Announces New President for 2019

On December 6, 2018, Members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board (OREB) elected a new Board of Directors for the upcoming year. The new Board will be comprised of 2019 President Dwight Delahunt, Past President Ralph Shaw, President-Elect Deborah Burgoyne, and Vice President Dominique Milne. Joining them are Directors Ken Dekker, Mitch Gauzas, Paolo Farago, Tim Lee, Andrew Ouellette, Peter Sardelis, Anne Scharf, Penny Torontow, and Debra Wright.
